The Doldrums of Wedding Planning

I can't believe the last post I wrote was over THREE WEEKS AGO!!!! I apologize. I had such good intentions to be updating this blog weekly, at the very least. But you know what they say, the best laid plans of mice and men...

Anyway, let me give you some insight into my life, sans wedding planning, on why I've barely had time to do laundry, much less update a blog.

1. Work
I am an Extension Agent specializing in 4-H youth development. Most people probably have no idea what that means. WHATEVER, I'm over it.

4-H stands for Head, Heart, Health, Hands. It's all about positive youth development through clubs, competitions, and camps. It is pretty awesome. Anyway, I basically work with kids. I started this job in September, and it is basically my dream job. Unfortunately, in my county, we have an entirely new Board of Supervisors who know nothing about 4-H and the impact it can have on a child's life. They have implied that, unless we increase our numbers,  they are going to cut the entire program next year. So no pressure, right? AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

2. VEGAS
What happens in Vegas, ultimately ends up on some social networking site. I just so happened to go on a trip to Vegas for my 25th birthday. No big deal. It was my quarter life crisis, so I needed to do something pretty serious to mark the occasion. What better party city to throw down in than Vegas? I have to say, Vegas was pretty awesome. I enjoyed it quite a bit--I even saw Heidi Klum! However, I was more excited when I saw her from the back, and thought she was Sweet Dee from Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but I guess with celebrities you take what you can get. It would have been better to spend more than an extended weekend there, it's impossible to fit it all in 2.5 days. People kept asking me if I was planning to elope while in Vegas--God no!!!! I mean, that is just so tacky. Ew! However, I have to admit that I did consider it, once I found out we could get married on a pirate ship. An acceptable elopement is a pirate ship elopement.

3. New Apartment
Matt and I just moved into our first place together! Exciting times! I spent several months fretting over finding a place, especially because I was laboring under the belief that we would pay a fortune just to live in some dumpy place smelling vaguely of cigarette smoke and broken dreams (trust me, there are many in Northern Virginia). Luckily, with the help of Matt's dad, we nailed down a budget and found a nice, clean, safe place to live. We even have a guest bedroom and guest bath, which has made me feel like a real adult, more so than paying taxes and buying car insurance. Matt promised me all along that we would find a place to live and it would all work out. As per usge, he was right.

4. My Birthday
I'm not talking about the trip to Vegas here, I'm talking about my birthday--excuse me, birthWEEK, in general. Yes, I sometimes (all the time) celebrate my birthday for a week or two, and on a few specific occasions, an entire month. What can I say, just having one special day to celebrate me really isn't enough for this girl. Anyway, during the week/month of my birth, I eschew all responsibilities of the adult world and spend my time indulging in hedonistic pleasures, such as stuffing my face with chocolate, drinking wine, eating whatever I feel like, and lounging around in my sweats watching netflix. It's an exciting life I lead. Jealous?

Once I begrudgingly stop celebrating, I spend the remainder of the month of April playing catch up to all those responsibilities that I felt were not conducive to a birthweek, such as cleaning, paying bills, doing laundry, and showing my face to the outside world.

So as you can see, I have been very busy. Who has time for wedding planning? Not this girl! No worries though, now that the chaos of life has slowed, I'm ready to hit up my planning notebook with serious determination. Just you wait, there will soon be post after post of all the latest news and updates on the wedding.

Or, maybe you'll hear from me in three weeks.
