Lettered Letters

Friends, I have been in a funk lately, and can we all please agree? Funks are THE WORST.

I don't want to be in a funk. This is my favorite time of year! The leaves are changing! Hokie football! Boots!! It's boot weather!!

In all seriousness, I have been funky and grumpy and moody and NO I AM NOT PREGNANT. Let's just get that out of the way right now.

There have been a few things getting me down lately, and some of it I just can't talk about on here (yet). One thing I know for certain that makes me feel gloomy is living some distance away from my family and friends. My parents and brothers are more than 4 hours away, and the majority of my close friends all live in different states. I know I'm lucky to have some very dear friends and family here in Loudoun, but it doesn't make me miss everyone else any less, and some days are harder than others.

I just want things to go back to the way they were in middle school. I wish I could bake everyone a cake, made out of rainbows, and smiles...
Hopefully, I may have found a solution.

Kate came up with what she calls a "passion project," and she is planning to send (by snail mail, duh) 100 letters before September 1, 2014. I don't even remember how I came across her blog (maybe Pinterest?) but this idea seemed like the it dropped out of the sky at just the right time. I feel like mailing sweet letters and cards will be just the thing to help me connect with my long-distance friends and family.

Also, I had literally just purchased a box of notecards on clearance at Target--perfect timing!

I've just mailed my first card this week (to my bff, Ashley), and am ready to get started on some more. I know this project won't cure all my ills, but at the very least it will make me smile as I send off letters to some of my favorite people in this world.

It's also a perfect opportunity to practice my fake calligraphy.
Think I can make it to 100? Oh, and if you want to join in on the fun (the more the merrier, I say!), then use #letteredletters with Twitter and Instagram to share. AND definitely check out Kate's blog! Not only is it really pretty because she is a designer, but she's also from Virginia--that alone should tell you it's worth a daily read!

Much Love,

Kate

  2. You're welcome! I'm excited about this project--been scoping out some cute stationery to be to go with it! And enjoy Fireworks--it's so delightful. I recommend getting some garlic bread too as an app.
