Happy Friday, friends! Things got sticky there at the end, but we somehow made it here together. Today I am very excited to be linking up with Setarra for the Residential Tourist Linkup. I've been wanting to join for a while, but I always forget about it. No time like the present!
As you know, a goal of mine is to visit all of the wineries in Loudoun County before I turn 30. There are currently somewhere around 40 vineyards (and counting), so I've got quite a task at hand. Last month, Matt helped me check another one off the list by taking me to Hillsborough Vineyards for my birthday scavenger hunt. I was impressed (by both the vineyard and Matt's birthday planning skills). The views were gorgeous, the wine was delicious, and they had these wonderful adirondack chairs around the property, perfect for sipping the wine and enjoying the mountains.
My two favorites are the Bloodstone and the Chardonnay. The Chardonnay was so perfect and refreshing, and I got super excited after tasting the Bloodstone because I could actually taste the pepper. If you've ever been wine tasting, you know how it is--the employee rattles off all these rando ingredients that you can "taste" in the "notes" and whatnot, but half the time I just nod my head and keep swirling and sniffing, trying to act like I know what I'm doing. This time though, I tasted that pepper and I let everyone know it! (And by everyone, I mean Matt and the two employees working--they were not impressed.)
If you happen to make it to Hillsborough, I recommend stopping for breakfast/lunch at Stoneybrook Farm Market. They sell lots of local and homemade products, and they have the most delicious egg sandwiches ever.
That's all for today friends! We've got big plans to do a whole lot of nothing this weekend--just the way I like it! If you don't have your own plans yet, take some time to be a tourist in your own town--it just might surprise you.
