Wanderlust Wednesday: Nashville

I'm excited to be linking up with Wanderlust Wednesday to share some details of our trip to Nashville this past fall. We traveled there for my best friend's wedding, but Matt and I also let it double as a Babymoon, since we wouldn't be taking any other big trips before Aida's arrival.

Now, this was not my first time at the rodeo! (Note: no actual rodeos were visited on this trip.) My mom and I used to make trips there to visit my Aunt when I was in 8th/9th grade, and I made a few trips over the past five years to visit my bff. Needless to say, I was excited to explore more of the city with Matt.

Here are a few recommendations from your favorite power couple:

Draper James
I can't explain how unbelievably excited I was when I found out that not only does Reese Witherspoon have her own clothing/accessory line, but the flagship boutique would be opening in Nashville around the time of our visit.

Draper James Storefront

The store did not disappoint. It was filled with cute details and the most gorgeous clothes, jewelry, totes, and handbags. Although most of it is pricey, a lot of it is made locally in the south, so I say if you've got it, go for it! I did manage to walk away with this roomy tote in a magnolia print, plus a cup of complimentary sweet tea.

Biscuit Love
Please go there and get ya some Bonuts.

Biscuit Love Nashville

It's biscuit dough fried up like a donut, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, and served up with lemon mascarpone and blueberry compote. Don't plan to eat anything else for the remainder of the morning. We definitely want to go back here and sample some other items on the menu--because yes, I do want to try sausage, egg, and cheese on a huge biscuit topped with gravy.

The Farmer's Market
When we travel, we love finding all the best local spots for shopping and eating, and the Farmer's Market in Nashville is an easy, one stop way to make that happen. There are lots of local vendors who set up (we found a burlap print that listed all of Nashville's neighborhoods), and plenty of delicious food to be found. We got to sample some fresh baked pecan pie, homemade oatmeal creme pies, and of course, the Grilled Cheeserie--a gourmet, grilled cheese food truck. I had about died and gone to heaven.

The Plaid Rabbit
Go here if you've got children in your life. It's just an unassuming store located in a strip mall, but inside it is packed with the most adorable children's clothes. We came home with a little fox themed outfit and a bonnet for Aida.

Broadway
I didn't make it to Broadway on this trip, but I highly recommend it--this is the hot spot, where all of the honky tonks and whatnot are located. I did visit Broadway on another visit and had quite a fun time at P Park (Paradise Park), a trailer park themed bar.

Hot chicken grits
Hot chicken is apparently one of Nashville's signature dishes, and I can't even describe it--it's like buffalo chicken but not. The best meal I had on the trip was actually from a catering company at the wedding, and it was hot chicken grits. It was literally one of the best things I ever tasted and I probably ate my weight in it that night.

That wraps up our Nashville trip, friends! It was a quick trip, but with several friends in the area we will be back.

Today's #JAMpackedholiday song fits with the Nashville theme--it's one of my absolute favorite songs from the show Nashville. Although I feel like the plot has really dragged this season, their music never lets me down. This song is a duet by Scarlett and Gunner (Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio), and I honestly think it's just one of the most beautiful songs out there. It's so simple, because it relies on the strength of both of their voices and how well they sound together.
